A Note On Special Diets: I personally don't follow any specific diets but try to seek out real foods on a regular basis (you can read more about my food philosophy here). With that said, I've decided to categorize my recipes into dairy-free, grain-free, vegan, etc. in order to make it easier for my readers who DO follow specific diets to find recipes that meet their needs.

However, I'm not a nutrition or special diets expert so if you're coming over from the primal, vegan, or low carb community wanting to police my recipes and shake your virtual finger at me because they're not perfect...well, you're in the wrong place! In many cases, I've included a recipe because it meets the general guidelines of a special dietary need or includes a suggestion for swapping out ingredients.

So...If you need a recipe to be 100% gluten-free you'll need to seek out gluten-free certified products. If you're counting macros for a low-carb diet, you'll need to look up the carbs in each ingredient (I don't provide nutritional info). If you want a recipe to be primal, seek out grass-fed dairy products to use (I often do myself but don't always list this specifically in the ingredients list). These are just a few examples! :)

  5. Ironically, I was trying to stay out of the house because it made me sad to be there without [Dillon]. I went in to work and our administrative assistant's daughter was there with two new foster pups, six weeks old. They were two out of seven from a litter that was found by the side of the road in a box. I held Libby for at least an hour, and the rest is history!
